Bishop Bruce Sullivan
Pastor Sullivan was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada the son of a U.S. Army serviceman. He attended Tomlinson College where he met his wife, Babs. They both continued their education at Lee University. In the fall of 1981, Pastor Sullivan began evangelizing. He served as State Evangelist for the state of Florida before being appointed a National Evangelist in the Church of God of Prophecy. During his evangelistic ministry, Brother Sullivan held revivals in over 25 states and in 2 provinces of Canada. In 1983, Brother Sullivan began pastoring. He has 40 years of pastoral experience pastoring 2 churches in New Mexico followed by 3 churches in South Carolina. During that time, he and his wife served as Youth Camp Directors and the Youth Camp Coordinators for the State of South Carolina. He currently serves as the pastor of the Zion Assembly Church of God in West Pelzer, South Carolina. On an international level, he currently serves as the “Fishers of Men” director, the SOMI Director, and the Sunday School Editor. He also serves on the Executive council as well as being the chairman of the Doctrine Committee. Under these appointments he has written 2 booklets, one explaining “The Gospel” and another to help “New Converts.” The Sullivans have 2 children, Zachary Sullivan and Alyssa Weeks as well as 3 grandchildren.
Our Mission
The School of Ministry Institute is an academic and spiritual training center devoted to preparing men and women for effective service in the body of Christ. Our mission is to equip pastors, evangelists, teachers, and church leaders through biblically faithful instruction, Pentecostal formation, and doctrinal integrity. We are committed to developing ministers who demonstrate spiritual maturity, exegetical skill, and theological soundness, grounded in the unchanging truth of God's Word.
Academic Model
Rooted in the classical tradition of theological education and the Spirit-filled heritage of the Pentecostal movement, SMI functions as a Bible college-level institute offering a structured academic pathway over three annual terms. Students may enroll in one of two formats:
Each track is designed to accommodate both full-time ministers and bi-vocational leaders. Students may complete the full program in as little as three years, with up to seven years allotted for flexible completion.
- Two-Week Residential Track - 25 Required Courses + 3 Electives
- One-Week Residential Track - 15 Required Courses + 3 Electives

Certificates of Study
To foster both theological depth and practical ministry excellence, SMI offers two formal Certificate Programs through its one-week intensives:
Upon completion, students receive a recognized certificate, suitable for church credentialing, educational advancement, or personal ministerial enrichment.
- Certificate in Teaching Ministry - This intensive equips students with the theological framework and instructional methodology necessary for effective biblical teaching. Students explore the principles of pedagogy, curriculum development, and Spirit-led communication, designed for teachers of all levels in the local church.
- Certificate in Biblical Studies - This track provides a concentrated study of key doctrinal themes, biblical interpretation, and the theological narrative of Scripture. Students will engage in focused coursework on Christology, ecclesiology, Pentecostal heritage, and core doctrines essential to ministerial formation.
